National Theater of Ghana The distinctive architecture of this modern building
encompasses an important national center for the performing arts. A day of History with Historians as we explore the Dubois Centre a research institution for Pan African history and culture. And also an onsite museum dedicated to his amazing achievements, and dedicated to documenting the life of the influential Du Boises family.
Day 2 The Markets Of Accra
Among the most famous markets of Accra is the Makola market located on Kojo Thompson Road and the Osu Night Market where market stalls illuminate with hundreds of lanterns and candles.
On weekends the stretch of beach between Accra's two luxury waterfront hotels-- La Palm, and La Beach-- is a prime venue for relaxation. Acrobats and fisherman provide entertainment; the surf is strong; and you'll find the best kababs and coldest beer in town. At night there is also live music, most of it quite good. The people-watching beats anything you'll see in Miami Beach! A day on enjoying beaches Labadi Beach and L A Palms Resort. Also Coco Beach and Kinston beaches will be featured. Day 3 Kumasi and the Ashanti Heritage
Kumasi is the capital city of the Ashanti region, a very important and historical centre for Ghana. Tradition is held very high in Kumasi and blends very well with modernity. There is a wide range of attractions in Kumasi.Kumasi and the Ashanti Heritage The Manhyia Palace, the seat of the King of Ashanti and members of the royal family is situated in the northern part of the city. The Palace has a courtyard and a courtroom where matters dealing with the constitution and customs are deliberated upon the traditional council. Visitors can get a good insight into traditional African democracy, which is still very present in the customs of the people when they visit the courtyard. The meetings are open to the public.
We will work on the medical clinic project in the mornings for 3 days. This day in Kumasi will be a free day you can take part in an activity or just stroll throught the local neighborhood. Take a taxi into the city and enjoy the local atmosphere.
Day 4 Kumasi Market
Morning we will work on the medical clinic for the village. (optional) Visit the Cultural
Crafts Center and other markets of Kumasi including the bonwire weaving village. On this evening we will meet with the clothing desingers to put orders in on any items that need to be sewn.
Day 5 Boabeng Fiema Monkey Sanctuary
We will visit the Boabeng Fiema Monkey Sanchuary and the historical lake on the mountain both amazing placing boast of panoramic scenery and local folklore.
Day 6 The Manhyia Palace Museum
Take a tour The Manhyia Palace Museum used to be the residence of Otumfuo Prempeh I and Otumfuo Sir Osei Agyeman Prempeh II, K.B.E. the 13th and 14th Kings of the Asante Nation. The building was put up in 1925 by the British Government for Otumfuo Prempeh I who returned from exile in the Seychelles Islands in 1924, to replace the Asantehene’s Palace at Adum which was destroyed during the Yaa Asantewaa war.
Visit the Ahwiaa in Kumasi Craft villages and watch craftsmen at their trade. Here you can buy all kinds of amazing crafts.
Day 8 Kakum National Park
Off to Cape Coast
Mornings in Cape Coast there will be an available two Day Drum and Dance Camp Kakum National Park At 357km2 national park comprises undisturbed virgin rain
forests. Which provides excellent walking tours ( and a canopy walkway) although
the ground level forest provide the opportunity to see much of Ghana's indigenous plant life, as well as rare butterflies, birds and game that (Could include the extraordinary bongo and forest elephant).
Day 9 The Slave Castles of Ghana
The castles along the coast of the Central Region are among the best preserved in Ghana. Which include the Cape Coast Castle, Elmina Castle and Fort Jago. Local highlights include: Castles tours, including the slave dungeons and The Cape Coast Castle Museum. We provide a special welcome home ceremony.
